We only used the mixer a few times and we didn t have a dishwasher back then. The white coating started coming off my first beater like this but i admit i had been putting it in my dishwasher top rack only.
I never had to replace the flat beater until it got washed in the dishwasher by accident. If you prefer to put your beater in the dishwasher kitchenaid offers white. I use this one fairly often so i needed a replacement and ordered this.
